Meet Romona

Founder of Coconut Tree Books & Volunteers for Children

Romona Norton is the visionary heart behind Coconut Tree Books. Born and raised in the vibrant, culturally rich city of Georgetown, Guyana, Romona grew up surrounded by a beautiful blend of stories, traditions, and diverse customs.

Giving back was a way of life—her earliest memories include volunteering alongside her parents to support local orphanages. This deep-rooted commitment to service became a lifelong calling.

Romona's mission is to inspire curiosity, compassion, and confidence in children through joyful storytelling and global service—empowering young minds with the tools, tales, and support they need to thrive.

From Global Service to Storytime Magic

After moving to the United States in 2001 and starting a family, Romona Norton’s lifelong dedication to children only grew stronger. What began in Guyana—volunteering in orphanages alongside her parents—evolved into a global mission. She has supported children’s programs across Central and South America, Europe, and Africa, always advocating for education, opportunity, and the wellbeing of children everywhere.

This passion for uplifting young minds also sparked the creation of Coconut Tree Books—a joyful blend of storytelling and purpose. Inspired by her belief in the power of books to educate, entertain, and empower, Romona writes whimsical tales filled with playful rhymes, lovable characters, and gentle lessons that help children grow with curiosity, confidence, and heart.
